As requested by the poll I posted the other day, these are my feelings towards inplay betting.
Now I primarily have always been a Pre Match bettor as I like to do my research, place a bet and then come back during or after to see how its got on. This is just the style I have always preferred and everyone is different. You have to find what works best for you.
This isn’t me disrespecting people who do bet inplay as there is a lot of fantastic bettors that are excellent at it, too many to mention as it is quite an over saturated market, making it hard sometimes to see the real talented ones above the frauds.
I just don’t enjoy constantly looking at the phone/computer waiting for lines to hit prices I want so I leave that to the professionals.
But when I do like to indulge in a inplay bet it is usually on a line or a bet that was way to low of a price to take pre match. For example say Liverpool go 1-0 down early in a match and you are very confident they will turn it around, so you would get a much better price on them inplay at 1-0 down. Another example is the later a game goes, the better prices you get on goals. So say you have done your research and the two teams playing have a high percentage of goals in the second half of their games, you could wait until half time and if it is 0-0 place a bet on Both Teams to Score for example, at a much better price than you would have got before the game.
Other occasions I like to bet in play are absolutely mad punt high odd acca’s that I know aren’t profitable long term but give me some short term excitement chasing a big cash out or a big win. Cashing out inplay can be very profitable on these style of bets as the odds inplay are ususally determined by algorithms rather than traders so they can be ever changing. Examples of this are in tennis with each serve potentially effecting prices massively. So you could place a bet and cash for profit minutes later when the tide has turned how you predicted.
Remember singles are your bread and butter in sports betting, multis are a rare treat. So I often only play around inplay in this way with a little of the profit I have already secured.
